Resources Available through the OhioMeansJobs Ashland County Center

The resource room is open to the public, providing the following FREE resources to anyone seeking employment or re-employment, Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:00 PM, no appointment necessary: 

  • Assistance with resume preparation
  • Information on local weekly job openings; Ashland, Holmes, Wayne Counties
  • Job lists from outside the local area
  • Career counseling
  • Use of copier, fax, and phone service for employment-related needs
  • Internet access for job searching
  • Clothes and gas vouchers to assist in the application and interview process
  • Information about local educational opportunities and financial aid
  • Initial assessment of employable skills and abilities

Training

While some job seekers may only need self-service or other basic career services, others will need more comprehensive services that are tailored to their individual needs, such as training services. WIOA eligible and suitable job seekers may receive services such as classroom training or on-the-job training (OJT).

WIOA Youth Program

WIOA Youth Program, funded utilizing Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) allocations, provides training, employment and supportive services to qualifying youth ages 14-24.

Services are provided by Tri-County Educational Service Center at the OhioMeansJobs division of ACDJFS. Stop in or call (330) 464-0944 for information. 

 

Resources offered through the program (until funds are exhausted):
  • Paid work experience based on your career path
  • Occupational skills training
  • Supportive services such as transportation, uniforms, supplies, etc.
Who is eligible?

Youth that fall under all of these qualifications:

  • Ages 16-24
  • Facing One or More Barriers:
    • Parenting/Pregnant
    • Homeless/Runaway
    • Disability-IEP
    • Foster Child
    • Offender
    • School Dropout
    • Basic Skills Deficient
    • Limited English Proficiency
    • Out of School

Other barriers may apply, but will need to be accompanied by low income (100% of the federal poverty level)

Documentation needed for participation:
  • Birth Certificate
  • Photo ID
  • Social Security Card
  • Proof of Barrier
  • Proof of Graduation
